Seattle Seahawks
Long considered basement dwellers in the American Football Conference's West division, the Seattle Seahawks have begun to make a name for themselves since moving to the National Football Conference in 2002. Under the leadership of Coach Mike Holmgren, the Seahawks soared to a Super Bowl appearance in 2005 but lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Reliable quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and workhorse running back Shaun Alexander both give the Seattle Seahawks a chance to win every game. Playing in the NFC West, where the St. Louis Rams look capable of going winless this 2007-08 season, the Seattle Seahawks will almost certainly snatch a spot in the 2008 playoffs.

Seattle Mariners
Life is hard in baseball's American League. Teams battle all season long in their own divisions, only to have the perennially strong Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees spoil everything by muscling through to yet another playoff victory. The Seattle Mariners over the past decade know the scenario well. A talented Seattle team that boasts the always-exciting outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, the Mariners seldom win the AL West and have lost to the Yankees during their last two playoff appearances. Poor personnel decisions by management handicapped the baseball team during the seasons following the 2001 playoff loss to (guess who) the New York Yankees. With a new manager in 2008 and Suzuki signed on for five more years, maybe the Mariners shake off their slump.
