Seattle WA is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located between Puget Sound and Lake Washington nearly 108 miles south of the U.S./Canadian Border in King County. As of 2005, the city had a population of 573,000 and a metropolitan population of around 3.8 million. Seattle is the main hub for the Greater Puget Sound region. The official nickname is Emerald City because of the many evergreen trees that surround the Seattle area; it is also referred to as the Queen City, Rainy City, the Gateway to Alaska and Jet City, due to the local influence of the Boeing Corporation. Seattle residents have come to be known as Seattlites.
Ranked as one of the top 10 real estate markets in the country, the Seattle area is a great place to live. The largest city in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle lies on a narrow strip of land between the salt waters of Puget Sound and the fresh waters of Lake Washington. There are the Olympic mountain ranges to the west and the Cascade mountains to the east.
